Macaw has been bringing its unique blend of dance music from the Caribbean and around the world to Ohio’s premier events for over 20 years. With a presentation as colorful and exciting as the bird itself, Macaw combines the sounds of the steel drums, conga drums and other traditional world music instruments with the guitars and keyboards of American pop music. Add to this Macaw’s beautiful four part vocal harmonies and you have an entertainment experience you won’t soon forget. Call me or email macaw@rjarvis.com .

RON JARVIS: Bass, Acoustic Guitar, Vocals

You might recognize Ron from such well known Cleveland acts as Ital, First Light, The Buckeye Biscuit Band, Alex Bevan, Pat Dailey (to name just a few) or perhaps from his musical theatre work with Kent State University (where he earned his M.F.A. in Theatre), Arena Fair Summer Theatre or Cleveland Public Schools among others. Founder, leader, and producer, his solid, "in the groove" bass lines, enchanting lead vocals, and exceptional songwriting talents have brought the sound of Macaw alive for over thirteen years. Although still very much involved with other recording and live projects as producer, music director and artist, it is Ron's vision for Macaw to show that we can be "one people out of many" through music and art.

SCOTT VELARDO: Steel Drum, Congas, Percussion
Scott began playing steel drum with the University of Akron Steel Drum Band while earning his B. A. in Music Education. This experience allowed him to perform with such steelband greats as Len "Boogsie" Sharpe, Andy Narell, and Jimmy Buffett's own Robert Greenidge. You might also recognize Scott from such professional Cleveland area bands as Tropical Winds, Pan Harmony, and Island Steel.

ROLANDO PIZANA: Guitars, Bass, Vocals
Originally from Corpus Christi, Texas, Rolando's Latin American heritage, M.A. in music and experience in such acts as Trio De Las Americas, and the Pandemonium steel drum band make him a natural compliment for the international flavor of Macaw.

TIM LONGFELLOW: Keyboards, Vocals
Tim's lifelong enthusiasm for jazz music has found him working with such greats as The Ink Spots, Vince Mendoza, Bill Noftsinger Trio, The Scott Alan Project and many more. It's also easy to find Tim on recent CD releases by Dave Crossland, Khearen Morgan, Pat Dailey, and Alex Bevan to name just a few. Although his B.A. in Music and subsequent involvement with academic music and theater have earned him the affectionate band nickname "Mr. Longfellow," his performances are always a lesson in excitement.

ERIK DIAZ: Drums, Congas, Timbales, Percussion, Vocals
Erik brings with him an incredible energy and power to the percussion. Originally from Los Angeles, he is best known around the Kent, Ohio area for his years with the Kent State University African Music Ensemble. He is also the drummer and vocalist for the Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame educational program “Blues in the Schools,” bringing the history of rock music to public schools all over Ohio. Most recently he has been the tour drummer for Jefferson Airplane alumni Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Cassidy’s band “Hot Tuna.”
